Why is the Avatar in Republic City?
Ok, so. I totally have a huge head cannon for these two. Tenlin
Since their parents were friends, they grew up together. As kids, they played together as best friends. Once the teenage years hit, they realized their feelings for each other, and became embarrassed by them. They admired each other for their bending skills, and eventually, Lin and Tenzin confessed their feelings for each other. They dated, and Lin fell head over heals for Tenzin. Everyone assumed they would stay together, get married, ect. Then Crisis. Whatever it was caused Lin’s scars on her face. At the same time, Tenzin broke up with Lin (for unrelated reasons, but reasons nonetheless Pema). Lin was heartbroken, and became much more strict and stern in life. She threw herself into her work, quickly rising in the police force. She watched Tenzin become happy, and though he tried to mend their friendship, she didn’t want him around. Now, they meet when they have to. Tenzin remains polite. Lin remains emotionally removed.
